    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (or whatever you're having yourself) to all who frequent this place, and to the lady responsible for it for setting such impeccable standards of discourse. Velouria, may you find your dreams wherever they are. Ireland is as good a place as any.

    If this appears in time, may I give a plug to the Christmas Eve Service of Nine Lessons and Carols from St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, broadcast live at 4 pm on RTE Radio One. Also available on Sky TV and the RTE website. Hear the magnificent Willis organ, the tympani and trumpet fanfares, and the bells of Dublin. This Irish expat wouldn't miss it.

    No snow here though - temps forecast for the high 70s all week :( You will be in my thoughts as I ride the sunny roads and trails of SoCal.
