Couples
We don't have much time to double-date, but sometimes it's nice to spend time with another couple. You know - going out to the lake together, watching the sunset...
I think you've met these friends of ours before?

They haven't been out together for a while, but finally we convinced them both to join us.
The evening involved conversation,
dancing,
rock climbing,
and attempts at group portraits.
Our small entourage attracted some local bicycle enthusiasts, and soon we were chatting about refurbishing vintage frames to the bewildered glances of passers-by, until it grew dark and each party headed home. Our rod-brake friends always do seem to get all the attention. Must be their matching outfits.

ReplyDeleteThat's just adorable. Who paid for dinner? Always nice to get back on an old bicycle for a stroll-type ride.
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeleteis that a minnehaha i see on rodney?
beautiful, beautiful... so happy that the weather is (finally) changing for the better.
ReplyDeleteAbby - We made them pay of course! Hight time too, after we kept spending money on them.
ReplyDeleteSomervillain - Yes, we succumbed to the siren call of the Minnehaha clearance sale! The bag is huge and has some nice features. Review forthcoming.
How cute are you two & those bikes! My bike, which is a Pake Urban step through bike, has a "male" version of it too. Now all I need is a man to ride one with me! Haha.
ReplyDeleteAh I wish I had someone to couple with. Alas, not much of that going on in Houston, TX. Everyone's too busy driving on the Interstate.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me something to dream about!

Aw, very sweet. I love all of your posts, but this one especially with the fantastic story telling. Rock climbing looks like fun :)
ReplyDeleteThey look very happy together. :-)
ReplyDeleteHot couples... :p
ReplyDeleteNice that whimsey attended also!
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome couple the Raleighs make! "We're meeting up with the Raleighs this afternoon." "We're going out with the Raleighs tonight." It has a lovely ring to it that makes me think of big jugs of Pimms, and strawberries and cream under an oak tree for afternoon tea. :-)
ReplyDeleteFunny idea, love it :).
ReplyDeleteLove it! Our Raleigh Twenty's spent the weekend together...unfortunately it must have been a secret date because there aren't any pictures :-(

The rock climbing reminds me of this field out by my parents' house that used to have llamas, and there was a little hill in the field (about 3 feet high), and this one llama would just stand right on top of the hill, with his head held high, watching the rest of the llamas :)
ReplyDeleteWe didn't really do a double-date this weekend so much, but we had great company on our errands.
A couple weekends ago we were sitting at a coffee shop with our bikes parked out front, and a guy came out and was asking whose Raleighs they were, and then we talked about all the details of them, etc. Another time, we were riding into the grocery store parking lot, and a guy shouted "Nice bikes!" at us, and then followed us over to the bike racks to ask us about them.
I think Raleigh made some of the most beautiful, stately bicycles ever made, they really are just eye-catchers. Always nice when they fall in love, as well. They make very happy couples.
I agree with you though, Bertram and Beatrice (our Raleighs) need to start forking out for meals here and there, we've paid more than our share :)
Love that your outfit is puffy skirt & leggings ! Same as mine most days :d
ReplyDeletethe bwr wants one of those couple shots! nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks all-
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the "rock climbing" was particularly strenuous : )
I dropped in to say "Aha Minnehaha!" - but I see it's already been said.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your review.
Awww, sweet. Love seeing bike couples on the streets and their bikes parked together.
