Vintage Velo Postergirl
"RadlMax" is a vintage bicycle collector from Styria, Austria, who not only taunts me with beautiful images of his unbelievable bikes (which he restores himself), but makes me even more jealous by posting pictures of his lovely wife Karin riding the bikes though their house. Some girls get all the fun! Check it out:
Here is Karin cruising through the livingroom on a high-wheeler. Lucky girl! She is sitting tall and seems to be pedaling effortlessly in her stockinged feet.
And here is Karin on a Pick Racing Bicycle, Vienna, (c) 1933. So cool! What are those tires made of? And notice her skirt and high-heel boots.
And finally, the piece de resistance: Karin, next to a Puch Graz bicycle named Erika, built in 1933. Karin is wearing a Dirndl, which is a form of Austrian national costume. This is one of my favourite bicycle pictures ever. And the early Puch looks like a predecessor of the Azor Swan, does it not?
Looking forward to more pictures from Max's vintage collection!

these photos are awesome! i love the matching costumes to bicycles!
ReplyDeleteThat Puch is amazing, and the frame style does look pretty similar to the WorkCycles Zwan. I love the gigantic headlight, and that dress is beautiful with it.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine trying to ride a highwheel in our apartment, I would be sure to either kill myself, break something important, or both :)
Waaah!!! Just the line "riding the bikes through the house" does it for me! :-)) They are stunning bikes and great photos. I love the Puch Graz - elegant, flowing lines.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!...I have been known to ride my bikes down the occasional hotel hallway...house isn't big enough. LOL

What fantastic photos!
ReplyDeleteThe high-wheeler one is ace.
What was it you said in the title to an earlier post - thou shalt not covet? I'm trying not to. Such beautiful old bikes!
ReplyDeleteCool bikes. Can't wait to visist the California Bike Museum (http://californiabicyclemuseum.org).
ReplyDeleteThe last bike does look like the Workcycles Swan.
I also really like the graceful Puch frame design and the enormous headlight. I can only imagine what a sight it must be for Karin to ride this bike through the town wearing a Dirndl. I want to do it too : )
ReplyDeleteSo cool!
ReplyDeleteif she ever rides it - usually shes on the road with her asian citybike :(
ReplyDeleteim still trying to persuade her...
Cool! I love the second bike. I've always secretly wanted a Pashley Guv'nor.
ReplyDeleteNice bikes, nice photos! (And also, how about that white leather chair!)
ReplyDeletemax - I'll take some of those bikes off your hands and ride them around Vienna if they are lonely!
ReplyDeletedottie - I also secretly want a vintage pathracer : )
i got 2 ladies bikes like the puch for sale. contact me if you are interested.
ReplyDeleteSurely she is slyly leaning her knee on the furniture in the first picture?!
ReplyDeleteknit nurse - that was my thought initially too, but I can't seem to find signs of this in the pictures!
