She has two bikes; a men's Trek hybrid with no lights and mismatched wheels and an aluminum roadbike that is now damaged due to a recent accident. The skinny tire got stuck in an old trolley track, and she fell hard. If you look closely, you can see her surgery scar to repair her right collarbone.

I'd love for her to have a city bike with big, safe tires! She has no intention of quitting bikes.

For the photos, I thought of films like Wild Strawberries and The Virgin Spring--my favorite Bergman films.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64529691@N02/5875019653/in/photostream

fieldofbluebells at gmailAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-48296004606067302982011-06-26T22:47:26.084-04:002011-06-26T22:47:26.084-04:00My entry is meant to evoke the evolution of love b...My entry is meant to evoke the evolution of love by couples on bicycles in Swedish Cinema. The bicycle that I am astride, I received for my 10th birthday. It saw me through childhood and adolescence. As a teenager, I would ride this bicycle through my neighborhood, wearing a sundress and straw hat, with my little schnauzer in the basket. One neighborhood boy, frequently riding a unicycle, would scowl at me as I rode by. As I grew older, the teenager on the unicycle would smile rather than scowl, but I would ride away shyly without stopping. Ultimately, the man on the unicycle would become my husband, and I have both the bicycle and the husband to this day. Unlike the husband, the bicycle is showing it's years, and I would love to own a classic style ladies bicycle that I dare ride more than walking distance home :-) (I am 5'9")

Thanks for your consideration

Audra

see entry herevia email from Audranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-63691084215985368472011-06-26T22:42:56.604-04:002011-06-26T22:42:56.604-04:00OMG : )OMG : )Velouriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00359329171411037482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-74648162915078144802011-06-26T22:34:55.837-04:002011-06-26T22:34:55.837-04:00Now that looks like the perfect bike for a yepp mi...Now that looks like the perfect bike for a yepp mini so Momma can ride me around town.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64534048@N06/5875081718/in/photostream

gtaipale at yahooAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-10785224715087540322011-06-26T17:49:54.647-04:002011-06-26T17:49:54.647-04:00Thank you Rhonda, Kate, Traci, Melissa, Marya, Oli...Thank you Rhonda, Kate, Traci, Melissa, Marya, Olivia, Paris, and Marcella!

The deadline is tonight. I’m entering with my girlfriend, Melissa, who is pictured riding my bike in this photo. She’s a tall lady, and though we’ve been searching for a step-through that would both fit and appeal to her design aesthetic, we have yet to succeed. I showed her your review of the Pilen and the contest—it’s a perfect match.

In our photo we feature a prototypical Swedish cinematic use of light. True to cinematographer Sven Nykvist’s craftsmanship, a single light source proves powerful. We composed a natural setting at daybreak. The landscape is simple and rustic, which evokes a leisurely pace to the trail ride. This photo could be a scene right out of Igmar Burgman’s Wild Strawberries.

The bike in this photo is a Surly Cross Check with Paul brakes, a CETMA front rack, and Wald basket. These components are American, but embody the utility found in the Pilen Lyx. She’s carrying flowers in the photo, a much more lovely payload than I’m normally hauling. Hope you like the photo—thanks for the consideration!

trevor.kniffin at gmail dot comTrevor and Melissanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-36525218895775684622011-06-25T23:40:13.594-04:002011-06-25T23:40:13.594-04:00I am 6'1" and am pictured here with my hu...I am 6'1" and am pictured here with my husband's hand-me-down commuter turned Xtracycle. The playhouse in this picture was built by my grandfather while he was visiting us in Washington. My grandparents brought the windows over from Sweden and put them in the traditional Swedish house design. The book in the picture is Pippi Longstocking written in Swedish, the original language of the story. Luckily, I could borrow my friend's bike for the photo and here is my submission:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64566554@N08/5871087841/in/photostream

My email is oliviacooks95 at gmail dot com
Thanks for this opportunity!Olivianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-2388786071217078992011-06-25T23:06:21.083-04:002011-06-25T23:06:21.083-04:00Here is my submission for the Pilen giveaway conte...Here is my submission for the Pilen giveaway contest. It sounds like exactly what I have been looking for. (and not finding!) My inspiration comes from The Virgin Spring, my husband and I went to this state park today and precariously rode side-saddle while holding candles, (to take to the Virgin). The shot we ended up really liking was this one, because although it doesn’t show the candles, I think it gives the impression of being watched while riding through the forest. The obligatory candles are in the shot below.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64476972@N07/

P.S. When she was still living in Sweden she rode her bike to work every day, but couldn't bring it with her in the move. She's since had severe hip problems for the last few years, in part due to her not getting enough excercise and being overweight.
She's now gone through surgery, replacing her hip, and will be in recovery for at least another eight weeks. When she was visiting me in Malmö during the spring she said that one of the things she was looking forward to most after the surgery was being able to once again get on a bike. I think that the beautiful blue Pilen would help her keep her spirits up when going through rehabilitation, and make it easier for her to keep healthy when she's back on her feet.

Thank you for writing your blog, it's always a pleasure to read your posts! I'm in the process of starting road-biking myself, and your thoughts on that topic have really made me feel less intimidated.

Take care!
Anders from Malmö, Swedenandersnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-66359852989755679092011-06-25T12:55:19.682-04:002011-06-25T12:55:19.682-04:00Thanks Mike & Bojana! Thanks Mike & Bojana!Velouriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00359329171411037482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467858377106451384.post-31859155915450777242011-06-25T12:49:59.557-04:002011-06-25T12:49:59.557-04:00My friend Luisa and I are entering as a team, here...My friend Luisa and I are entering as a team, here is our entry:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/bojnberry/5870069856/sizes/l/in/photostream/

This was fun!

bojana at bojnberry dot caBojanahttp://www.bojnberry.ca/~boj/blog/noreply@blogger.com
